Philanthropy
As a local organization Lambda Zeta Chi has the opportunity to work with different organizations. This also allows us to pick our philanthropies which ensures that every sister is connected with the philanthropies chosen and will put their all into raising awareness and money. Members are always encouraged to vouch ideas on volunteer events and new philanthropic organizations to form supportive and rewarding relationships with. We also take pride in our endless bond to each other and are always willing to help a sister out, whether they are an active sister or an Alumni.
Lambda Zeta Chi proudly supports The American Brain Tumor Association. ABTA exists to eliminate brain tumors through research and to meet the needs of brain tumor patients and their families. ABTA is a not-for-profit, independent organization; they serve individuals globally and award funds to researchers through the United States and Canada. Each year, the ABTA awards more than $2 million for brain tumor research and provides assistance and hope to millions of patients and family members. Lambda Zeta Chi volunteers at various runs throughout the year in support of ABTA including the BT5K and Chicago Marathon. On top of that, Lambda Zeta Chi hosts a number of fundraisers and events on campus to raise funds and awareness for the cause.
Community Involvement
Lambda Zeta Chi, like all of Greek life is driven by community service and involvement. We find opportunities to volunteer around campus including events such as the Revelry Carnival, Welcome Crew, convocation crew and other campus hosted events. In the city of Chicago we also volunteer at runs such as the Bank of America Marathon and Shamrock Shuffle on top of finding opportunities like making sandwiches and blankets for the homeless and other meaningful service events. Lambda Zeta Chi is also dedicated to showing support of other Greek life organizations and their philanthropies. Whatever the letters, we're all Greek together.
National Alliance on Mental Illness
Lambda Zeta Chi is also proud to announce that they recently adopted the National Alliance on Mental Illness as one of their main philanthropies. NAMI is one of the largest mental health organizations dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. NAMI works to educate, advocate, listen, and lead. They work in local communities to increase awareness, provide essential education, advocate for policies, and provide support groups and resources- including a hotline - to those who need it. We understand the growing concern for mental illnesses, especially within the college community. Working alongside NAMI we strive to increase awareness and understanding of the importance of mental health along with decreasing the stigmas that surround mental illnesses.
